The 2024 Paris Olympics are about to begin, and UW athletes will be there to represent not only the U.S. but four other countries. Wondering where to watch these past and present Wisconsin athletes? Look no further! Meet the 17 current and former Badger athletes and their respective events.
Mohammed graduated from UW-Madison in 2014. He will be running both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter run for Canada in what is now his fourth Olympic Games. In Tokyo, he won silver in the 5,000-meter run.
Phoebe came to UW-Madison in 2020 where she is currently a swimmer. This will be her second Olympics and she will compete in the 200-meter backstroke. Phoebe qualified for the 2016 Olympic trials at age 14 and was 19 years old when she got fifth in the 200-meter backstroke at the Tokyo Olympics.
Lauren graduated from UW-Madison in 2016 where she was the setter for the UW volleyball team. She will now be the setter on the U.S. Olympic women's team. Last Olympics, she was an alternate for Team USA.
Jaden will begin his studies at UW-Madison this fall where he will also dive for the swim team. He represented his home country Germany in the 2020 games and will do so again for the 2024 Summer Games.
Aleem played basketball at UW-Madison from 2016-21. He will represent Puerto Rico on their Olympic basketball team in his first Olympic Games.
Oliver ran at UW-Madison in both cross country and track and field from 2016-20. This year he’ll compete in the 1,500-meter run representing Australia. He also competed in the 2020 Olympics where he got 11th place.
Grace rowed at UW-Madison from 2016-20 and is now going to her first Olympics on the women’s quadruple sculls rowing team. This is when the rowing team is made up of four women in total.
Alev attended UW-Madison and played both hockey and soccer from 2009-13. This year, she’ll be competing in her third Olympic Games in the U.S. Rugby Sevens Olympic team. This is when the teams are made up of seven players and there are seven-minute halves.
Rose played soccer at UW-Madison from 2013-16. She’s no stranger to the Olympics as she was on the women’s Olympic soccer team in 2020 when they won bronze. She will be a midfielder for Team USA in this year's games.
Morgan went to UW-Madison from 2014-19 where he ran both cross country and track and field. He will represent Australia in his second Olympic Games where he will race the 5,000-meter run.
Lauren rowed at UW-Madison from 2016-20. This will be her first Olympic Games and she will be on the women’s quadruple sculls team joining fellow badger Grace Joyce.
Dana played volleyball at UW-Madison from 2017-21. This will be her first Olympic Games and she will be the team's middle blocker.
Adam started running track and field for UW-Madison in 2021 and is still currently on the team. He will represent Australia in a 1,500-meter run in his first Olympic Games.
Taiko started swimming at UW-Madison in 2022 and still currently attends the university. He is heading to his first Olympic Games where he will compete in the 50-meter swim for New Zealand.
Sophia rowed at UW-Madison from 2013-16. She will be on the double sculls team (only two rowers) for her first Olympic Games.
Maddie rowed at UW-Madison from 2013-17 following in both of her parent's footsteps. This will be her second Olympic Games and she will be on the women’s eight rowing team.
Zach ran track and field at UW-Madison from 2012-16. This will be his third Olympic Games where he will compete in the decathlon. This event is composed of a 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400-meter run, 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter run spread out over two days.
